Austin Wiley Set to Join EuroLeague Club Bayern Munich After Leaving Hapoel Jerusalem
Austin Wiley has decided to leave Hapoel Jerusalem by exercising the exit clause in his contract, and he is now close to signing with Bayern Munich, marking his debut in the EuroLeague. Wiley informed Hapoel Jerusalem of his decision on Wednesday, shortly after which reports emerged that he is on the verge of joining the German club for the upcoming season.
Last season, Hapoel Jerusalem offered Wiley a two-year contract extension worth $2.2 million, which he was willing to accept. However, after he left the team midway through the playoff semifinals due to security concerns, the club withdrew the offer, meaning he would have remained only under his existing contract had he stayed.
In the previous season, Wiley averaged 10.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in the EuroCup, and posted similar statistics in the domestic league with 10.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. His move to Bayern Munich will be his first experience competing in the top-tier EuroLeague competition.
