Average Israeli Salaries Rise Sharply in May with 6.7% Increase

Preliminary estimates from the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) show that the average gross monthly salary for Israeli employees in May 2026 reached 14,277 shekels, marking a 6.7% increase or 898 shekels more than in May 2025. The number of salaried jobs in Israel in May totaled approximately 4.154 million, reflecting a 2.3% rise from April and a slight 0.2% increase compared to the previous May.

Updated data for April 2026 indicates the average salary was slightly higher at 14,374 shekels, an increase of 522 shekels or 3.8% compared to April 2025. In the high-tech sector, the average salary in April was significantly higher at 34,870 shekels, up 6.3% or 2,074 shekels from the same month last year. The number of salaried positions in high-tech reached 398,600 in April, growing 0.7% from March and 0.9% year-over-year. High-tech jobs accounted for 9.8% of all salaried positions in the Israeli economy as of April 2026.
