Israeli Police Charge Three in Mistaken Identity Murder in Nazareth

The Israeli prosecution is set to file charges against three members of the Hariri crime organization for the murder of 21-year-old Basel Fraoni in Nazareth last November. The killing occurred on Saturday, November 22, inside a car wash business in the Bilal neighborhood. According to the investigation, Fraoni was mistakenly identified as the target during a criminal feud and was fatally shot by masked assailants who arrived in a vehicle. Fraoni sustained severe penetrating injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man was moderately injured.

Paramedic Omer Daif, who treated the victims, reported that Fraoni was found unconscious without pulse or breathing. Security camera footage and a police investigation by the Emek Regional Unit revealed that the original target was the business owner, who was absent at the time, due to a conflict with the Bakri crime organization. The assailants mistook Fraoni for the owner because he was holding a washing hose.

Police found one of the murder weapons, gloves, a ski mask, and a duplicated license plate near the scene. The suspects' route was traced from the Umm al-Fahm area. An 18-year-old suspect was arrested in May, with two additional suspects from Jisr az-Zarqa and Reineh, already in custody for a separate murder charge, later linked to this case. The indictment will be submitted to the Nazareth District Court along with a request to keep the suspects in custody until trial.

Emek District Commander Deputy Chief Superintendent Ran Ofir stated that the police have dealt significant blows to local crime organizations and will continue to pursue criminals and dismantle their infrastructure to ensure they are brought to justice.
