Over 86,000 Israeli Civilians Injured Since Hamas Terror Attack in October

Israel is marking 1,000 days since the deadly Hamas terror attack on October 7, 2023. Ahead of this milestone, the National Insurance Institute released sobering data on the toll of terror and war on Israeli civilians. Prior to October 7, the institute had treated 16,044 victims of hostile acts, including about 10,000 civilians with permanent disability ratings from past terror attacks and wars. Since the outbreak of the current war, this number has surged by over 86,000 new civilian victims now receiving ongoing care.

Regarding fatalities, before the Hamas attack, 2,324 Israeli civilians had been killed in terror attacks since the state's founding. Since October 7, 2023, an additional 1,020 civilian deaths have been recorded, excluding fallen IDF soldiers, security forces, and civilian defense fighters. This means that nearly half of all civilian terror fatalities in Israel's 75-year history have occurred during this current conflict.

These figures highlight the unprecedented human cost borne by Israeli civilians amid ongoing hostilities and underscore the long-term impact on survivors and families. The state continues to provide support and care to tens of thousands affected by terror-related injuries and losses.
