Israel Marks 1,000 Days Since October 7 Terror Attack with Over 86,000 New Victims Registered

The National Insurance Institute of Israel released updated figures on Wednesday regarding victims of terror attacks since the October 7, 2023 massacre, ahead of the 1,000th day commemoration tomorrow. Prior to the attack, the institute was supporting 16,044 terror victims, including approximately 10,000 civilians with disability ratings due to terror and war-related injuries. Since October 7, an additional 86,047 civilian victims have been registered and are receiving support.

Civilian fatalities from terror attacks numbered 2,324 before October 7, with 1,020 more deaths recorded since that date. To mark the 1,000-day milestone, communities in the Gaza border area will hold a memorial rally at Sha'ar HaNegev junction, featuring speeches by bereaved families and survivors. This event will open a series of nationwide remembrance activities scheduled over the next 24 hours.

Tomorrow morning at 6:29 AM, memorial events will take place at various locations across Israel, including Guma Junction, Gadera, Karkur Junction, Ma'ayan Michael Bridge, Ammiad Junction, Tzemach Junction, Gaza border communities, Karmiel, and Ra'anana Central Junction. At 7:10 AM, protests are planned at multiple sites nationwide, including in front of ministers’ and Knesset members’ homes, such as Speaker Amir Ohana’s residence in Tel Aviv and Minister Amichai Shikli’s home in Kibbutz Hanaton.

At 8:00 AM, a ceremony for the victims of the Nova Party massacre will be held at the Re'im parking lot, led by relatives of those killed. Following the ceremony, a convoy of cars and motorcycles will visit massacre sites in the area. At 10:00 AM, organizers will call on all Israeli citizens to pause for a minute of personal remembrance wherever they are.

Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square will reopen at noon for a day-long "Memorial Square" event featuring ceremonies, testimonies, performances, and gatherings, culminating in a central rally at 8:00 PM. The "1000 Days March" will start at 7:00 PM from Savidor Central train station, arriving at the memorial square about an hour later to join the main event. These commemorations highlight the ongoing impact of the October 7 terror attack on Israeli society.
