One-Year-Old Baby Drowns in Beit She'an Pool, Condition Critical
A one-year-old baby girl drowned on Wednesday morning in a pool in Beit She'an and was found unconscious by Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency teams. Paramedics performed CPR, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and medication administration, before rushing her to Emek Medical Center in Afula in critical condition. MDA emergency medic Moshe Aryeh Katz reported that the baby was initially without pulse or breathing upon arrival, and despite resuscitation efforts, her condition remains severe.
This incident follows several recent drowning cases in Israel. On Tuesday, an approximately 80-year-old man drowned in the Dead Sea; despite resuscitation attempts by MDA and marine police, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedic Mohammad Azbarga described the rescue efforts and the man's lack of vital signs upon extraction.
On Saturday, two 13-year-old girls from Abu Snan in the Western Galilee drowned after being swept away by a current in the Jordan River near Kibbutz Lehavot HaBashan. Their friend alerted rescue forces who conducted extensive searches before finding the girls deceased. The same day, a 13-year-old boy drowned in a pool in the Emek Hefer Regional Council area and was hospitalized in serious condition after receiving life-saving treatment and ventilation from MDA teams.
On Friday, three drowning incidents occurred within hours: a man in his 40s drowned at Delilah Beach in Ashkelon and was hospitalized in critical condition; two 21-year-old men drowned at Jerusalem Beach in Rishon Lezion and were rescued by lifeguards, with one in serious and the other in moderate condition; and a 20-year-old man drowned at Atlit Beach and was hospitalized in serious condition.
