Jewish Man Attacked and Threatened Over Mention of Israel at Copenhagen Airport
A British Jewish man named Yaakov was physically attacked and threatened with murder by a 25-year-old Swedish Arab man while waiting for a flight at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark. The incident occurred after Yaakov mentioned his recent trip to Tel Aviv during a phone conversation. According to Yaakov, a nearby Arab couple overheard him and began verbally assaulting him, escalating to repeated death threats against Jews and Israel. The attacker also threw food at Yaakov, covering his clothes and face, leaving him shocked and distressed.
Yaakov immediately contacted the police, prompting the attacker and his companion to flee. Danish police arrived quickly, took Yaakov's statement, and later arrested the Swedish citizen at the airport. The police confirmed the arrest and stated the suspect is being investigated for violence and a possible hate crime motive. Airport staff assisted Yaakov after the attack, escorting him to the gate as he was visibly shaken.
Yaakov expressed deep concern over the rapid escalation of the assault and highlighted the severity of antisemitism that can arise even during private conversations in public. The Copenhagen police spokesperson confirmed the incident and the ongoing investigation into the suspect's motives.
