Satmar Rebbe Swiftly Inaugurates Two New Affordable Celebration Halls in 25 Minutes

The Satmar Hasidic community continues its efforts to combat the high cost of living and wedding expenses by inaugurating two new celebration halls at the Naava Kodesh complex. The event took place on Monday evening and lasted exactly 25 minutes, a stark contrast to the typically lengthy and elaborate ceremonies common in the ultra-Orthodox world.

The inauguration was combined with a special meeting of community leaders focused on the community's "wedding regulations," aimed at easing financial burdens on families. Rabbi Menachem Mendel Teitelbaum, the Av Beit Din of Satmar Williamsburg, opened the event emphasizing the importance of these regulations in alleviating economic pressure on parents.

The Satmar Rebbe expressed great joy over the opening of the affordable halls, intended for engagements and weddings, highlighting that "the beginning is half of everything," underscoring the significance of starting celebrations modestly. He praised the community activists who worked tirelessly to establish these low-cost venues, enabling parents to marry off their children without financial collapse.

The Rebbe noted with satisfaction that the halls in Kiryas Joel are among the cheapest worldwide for all types of celebrations, crediting both the organizers and the cooperating in-laws who agree to modest, affordable events. The ceremony concluded with the Rebbe presenting special gifts to the heads of the wedding regulations committee, Rabbi Yaakov Eliyahu Reisman and Rabbi Benzion Eliyahu Zoldan.
