Cara Delevingne Confirms Romantic Relationship with Amber Heard During Depp Divorce
Cara Delevingne has publicly confirmed for the first time that she had a romantic relationship with actress Amber Heard during the period when Heard was divorcing Johnny Depp. In an interview on Louis Theroux's podcast, Delevingne explained that they met while filming "London Fields," which also starred Depp. She said, "I think he was jealous. Nothing happened between us at that time, but after their divorce, yes, you could say something happened." The two had been close friends for years and were often seen together, but rumors of a romantic involvement circulated for months before Delevingne's confirmation.
Delevingne, 33, described their connection as an emotional entanglement during Heard's turbulent divorce process from Depp in 2016. Heard, now 40, filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against Depp in May 2016, alleging abuse during their relationship. Following the divorce, Depp sued Heard for defamation in 2019 over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she described her experiences as a survivor of abuse. After a highly publicized six-week trial, the jury ruled in Depp's favor, awarding him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
Delevingne recently came out as a proud lesbian and has been in a relationship with musician Minka for the past four years. She described her current relationship as the first time she truly feels in love, emphasizing that her partnership is now her top priority. When asked about open relationships, she said polyamory is not for her. Delevingne also shared her hopes to start a family in the future, stating she wants to heal parts of herself through motherhood rather than to fix anything from her past.
