Israeli Supreme Court Rules State Comptroller Exceeded Authority in 7/10 Reports
The Israeli Supreme Court unanimously accepted two petitions challenging eight reports submitted by State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman concerning the events of October 7. One petition targeted four audit procedures, arguing that the State Comptroller exceeded his legal authority as defined by the Basic Law: State Comptroller. The second petition raised concerns about four other audit procedures, claiming that the preparation process of the draft reports violated the right to be heard of those potentially affected by the audit findings. It was argued that these parties should have been consulted before the draft was finalized, not only afterward. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of both petitions, effectively invalidating parts of the State Comptroller's investigation into the October 7 events.
