Former IDF Officer Shahar Veron Joins Naftali Bennett’s 'Together' List to Advocate for Soldiers and Veterans
The political list "Together led by Bennett" announced on Sunday that retired Captain Shahar Veron has joined its ranks. Veron, 30, is a co-founder of the organization "Shoulder to Shoulder," which supports IDF soldiers. He served in the Maglan unit and the Paratroopers Brigade. On the morning of October 7, 2023, Veron voluntarily led his fighters from the Hebron area to the Gaza border, participating in the battle for Sderot and fighting in Kibbutz Kfar Aza for several days until the area was cleared of terrorists. He was severely wounded during combat in Gaza and agreed to be evacuated only after the terrorists were neutralized.
In the past two years, Veron has actively opposed the draft evasion law and led projects aimed at rehabilitating injured IDF soldiers. In an interview with Ynet, Veron explained his political entry: "I come to politics from the same place I went to fight on October 7, out of a sense of mission and responsibility to the country and those who have borne its burdens in recent years. I come for the fighters, the wounded, the families, and everyone who gave everything for this country. We will leave no one behind."
Naftali Bennett praised Veron, calling him "a true warrior and brave commander who led his fighters through the inferno of October 7 and other fronts, was severely wounded, and insisted on returning without leaving his men behind. As a recovering wounded soldier, Shahar knows the issue firsthand and is exactly the right person to lead the rehabilitation project in the next government."
Since its formation, the "Together led by Bennett" list has also attracted other notable figures, including former directors-general of the Finance and Transportation Ministries, Keren Turner Ayal, and former Communications Ministry director-general, Liran Abisher Ben-Horin.
