Jerusalem Hotel Security Guard and Two Others Charged for Throwing Stones at Protesters from Roof
A serious indictment has been filed against three Jerusalem residents, including an armed security guard, for throwing stones from a hotel roof at protesters and vehicles during a demonstration in central Jerusalem. The incident occurred on June 1, 2026, amid a large protest against the conscription of yeshiva students. Police investigations, supported by social media footage, showed the suspects calmly breaking large rocks on the hotel roof and hurling the fragments down at the crowd below.
One suspect was seen smashing a large stone on the concrete floor to create smaller stones for throwing. The third accused, the armed security guard responsible for the hotel's safety, deliberately opened the emergency door to the roof and allowed the others to access it. Instead of preventing the attack or reporting it, he stood nearby and passively watched the dangerous act unfold.
The police investigation included numerous testimonies and video analysis, leading to a strong evidentiary basis for the indictment. The Jerusalem District Prosecution charged each suspect with serious offenses related to endangering human life. Authorities emphasized that the security guard's cooperation significantly worsened the severity of the incident. The suspects’ arrest and swift indictment send a clear message against attempts to harm protesters or bystanders, especially when abusing positions of trust and authority.
