IDF Continues Systematic Operations Against Hamas in Southern Gaza Amid Ongoing Security Efforts
While global and public attention focuses on other fronts, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Brigade 188 persistently conducts systematic operations in southern Gaza, dismantling Hamas infrastructure. Despite the effective collapse of Hamas’s Rafah Brigade as an organized military unit, commanders warn that the threat remains significant, with dozens of tunnels and underground complexes recently uncovered.
The IDF maintains continuous activity in Khan Yunis and along the southern smuggling routes to secure the communities bordering Gaza. Over recent months, extensive underground networks and military compounds built by Hamas over years have been exposed near Rafah. The military emphasizes that the operation to dismantle these infrastructures is ongoing and methodical, proceeding meter by meter.
Following large-scale operations in Khan Yunis, the IDF continues targeted raids against terrorist cells to locate weapons and prevent Hamas from rebuilding its military capabilities. Entire neighborhoods in Rafah, once strongholds of Hamas, have been reduced to battle-scarred ruins, reflecting the dramatic changes in the Gaza Strip since the war began.
Alongside combat operations, one of the most sensitive tasks involves overseeing the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Aid trucks continue to enter under strict inspection to prevent the smuggling of weapons while providing essential supplies to civilians. Commanders and soldiers have been stationed in this area for over two years, far from their homes and families, with a clear mission to maintain security and prevent any recurrence of attacks like those on October 7.
