Direct Flights Put Slovakia’s Tatra Mountains Within Easy Reach of Israelis
From June 30, Israeli travelers will be able to fly directly from Ben Gurion Airport to Poprad-Tatry, the airport nearest to Slovakia’s Tatra Mountains, in a new exclusive route operated by Overseas. The flight time will be about 3.5 hours, cutting out long transfers from distant airports. The same company already flies to Bratislava on Sundays and Thursdays, and the two routes are meant to give travelers more flexibility, including arriving in the mountains and returning from the capital.
The Tatras, on the Slovakia-Poland border, are described as the highest and most dramatic range in the Carpathians, with clear alpine lakes, dense forests, and picturesque resort towns. In summer, the area is promoted as a destination for hiking, cycling, extreme sports, water parks, and easy family trails. In winter, it becomes an active ski region.
The main selling point, according to the article, is value for money compared with similar destinations in Western Europe. Introductory fares for the flight only start at $399, including full luggage allowance.
Overseas is also offering family “fly and drive” packages for a couple and two children from 999 euros per person. Those packages include direct flights, a rented car for one week, and seven nights in selected hotels in the mountain area.
