Pedro Neto jokes that Portugal all agreed he is the World Cup’s most handsome player
After Portugal’s 5-0 win over Uzbekistan, ahead of the Group E top-of-the-table clash with Colombia between Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 a.m. on Sport1, the Portuguese team’s news conference turned lighthearted. Chelsea winger Pedro Neto was asked about a viral social media poll that named him the “most handsome player at the 2026 World Cup,” and he responded with a joke, saying it was “completely normal” and that it was not even discussed in the dressing room because the whole squad unanimously agreed he was the best-looking.
The 26-year-old also shared a personal milestone off the field. This week he marked five years with his partner, Carolina Silva, and wrote online: “Five years of yours, how lucky I am to have you by my side. Thank you for everything. I love you so much, my love.”
Neto also spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored twice in Portugal’s last match. He said the team was very happy for him and understands that “he lives for goals” and is “obsessed” with scoring. Neto added that helping Ronaldo score at the World Cup is extra motivation, because the squad wants to help him achieve that goal after everything he has already given Portugal.
Looking ahead to the next round, Neto said players sometimes think about what happens if they finish second or third, but the most important thing is maintaining the team’s mentality. Portugal, he said, wants to be the best and will face Colombia determined to win and finish first in the group.
