Maccabi Haifa target Lucas Assadi may seek an exit from Universidad de Chile
Chilean reports say Lucas Assadi, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder long linked with Maccabi Haifa, may now try to leave Universidad de Chile in the current transfer window. Haifa had shown interest in him during the winter window, and contact reportedly resumed with the opening of the summer market.
Assadi recently renewed his contract and received a salary raise, which had appeared to secure his future at the club. But after he was left out of the squad for three straight matches for technical reasons, concerns emerged in Chile about his position in the team and his longer-term prospects.
According to TNT, Assadi and his representatives have decided to ask for a new destination now. The report said, “Assadi is very frustrated with what has happened to him recently,” adding that both sides are considering a change because he remains one of the country’s most promising talents.
In the past, Universidad de Chile refused to release him, which blocked a move to Maccabi Haifa. That stance now appears to be softening. Assadi came through the club’s youth system, scored 11 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions in 2025, and has not yet scored in 15 appearances in 2026.
