Real Betis midfielder Hector Bellerin once again spoke out against Israel in an appearance on Marc Giró’s Cara Show, broadcast on Sport 5 on June 25, 2026 at 18:05. The segment included a series of prompts from Giró, who eventually held up a card with the Palestinian flag, prompting Bellerin to expand on his views.
Bellerin said he had “taken a position on Palestine” and compared the response he believes football gave to Russia’s war in Ukraine with what he sees happening around the Israel-Palestinian conflict. He said football helped in the Ukraine case by putting flags on scoreboards and taking many other actions, and argued that in Spain, with the “conflict regarding Palestine and the genocide in Palestine,” Athletic Bilbao had already done something, making it “impossible not to take a stand.”
He added that “several of us have spoken a little about it, and that is great,” and said FIFA is a huge platform that can be used “to really do good and send positive messages.” He also said, “We all know what Lamine Yamal did,” referring to the Spanish star’s stance. After Giró then shouted “Free Palestine,” the audience applauded, and Bellerin applauded as well.
