Nava Rozolio, a prominent activist in the protest movement against Israel’s judicial overhaul, has begun using WhatsApp groups she previously ran for protest updates to promote her political campaign in the Democratic Party primaries. Over the past three and a half years, the groups had carried updates about the public activities of ministers, Knesset members and coalition figures, based on information Rozolio said she received from citizens. That material was used to organize demonstrations and circulate documentation from protest actions.
The groups were first called “Protest Updates, Nava Rozolio” and later renamed “Shame Guards.” They also served to distribute critical posts about the government, livestreams from demonstrations and routine protest news. Rozolio has now announced that she will run in the Democratic Party primaries ahead of the next Knesset election, and the group names and content were changed accordingly.
Rozolio said her goal is to bring the values she fought for on the street into the Knesset. In her words, “After years of public struggle, I am proud to take the fight to the place where the decisions are made that I fought about. My goal is to continue promoting the values I believed in on the street, also from inside the Knesset.”
