Israeli businessman and tech entrepreneur Eyal Waldman, 65, said for the first time how he met his partner Maya, 21, whose relationship, revealed about a year ago, drew attention because she is 44 years younger than him. In an interview with journalist Omri Assenaheim’s new show on Channel 13, Waldman said Maya, a Pilates instructor from Holon, worked as a flight attendant on his private jet. “She was a flight attendant on my private plane, and that’s how we met,” he said.
Waldman said he made the first move, asking for her phone number and then calling after they returned to Israel to ask whether she wanted to meet. He said the relationship has since developed and that the two have been together for nearly a year.
He also addressed the uproar over a video the pair posted in March, showing them dancing to a viral remix of Donald Trump’s remarks about the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. “It was crazy,” he said. “We saw a very cute video about Khamenei dying, so we made a video.” The clip drew nearly 2 million views. Waldman said he did not understand why it went so far, adding, “If I had known it would do that, I wouldn’t have done it.”
He said he expected only his friends to see it and joke that he looked silly. In the same program, Waldman said he signed a prenuptial agreement with Maya, and that he also requires his children to sign one if they have been with a partner for more than three months. He said this is a condition for inheriting from him: “There is no awkwardness. It is the most logical thing. It is the natural thing to do.”
