Miki Haimovich, a former news anchor and ex-Knesset member, turned down an offer to return to the anchor desk alongside her longtime cohost Yaakov Eilon, according to a report on ynet. The emerging Channel 16 had tried to recreate the success of Israel's Channel 2 and Channel 10 by asking the pair to lead its main evening news broadcast.
Haimovich rejected the proposal outright and made clear that her news-presenting career was definitively over. People involved with the channel confirmed the details, but said this did not amount to a complete break from television.
Instead of returning to hard-news coverage, Haimovich expressed strong interest in joining the new channel in a different role. She wants to head content focused on environmental issues and sustainability, subjects she says are especially close to her heart.
