Yinon Magal commented on what he described as a new media uproar over Shin Bet chief David Zini’s decision not to fund the agency’s Pride activities. Magal said it was unreasonable to expect Israel’s secret security service to focus on gender identity or sexual identity, and he mocked the idea of Pride flags being displayed on Shin Bet computers during Pride Month.
He called the move “a disgrace” and said he was “shocked to the depths of my soul.” In the same remarks, he said that by the same logic, every month of Tammuz should feature messianic flags on all IDF computers, and “flags of the coming of the Messiah” should be displayed throughout the military.
Magal also claimed that soldiers are being punished for wearing a Messiah patch, saying troops are being sent to prison and removed from combat for it. He contrasted that with what he portrayed as the lack of public outrage over the Shin Bet funding decision, and said Channel 12 reported on the Shin Bet controversy before covering the situation of soldiers in Lebanon.
He ended by saying “we are one minute from Iran,” and suggested that could lead to “300 billion dollars” from a fund organized by Trump. The remarks were presented in the context of his criticism of media priorities and what he sees as double standards.
