The family of Abraham, also known as Albert, Itzkowitz, who was murdered in New York last month, will hold a Thursday morning news conference to announce new developments in the unsolved case and to unveil a doubled reward for information leading to an arrest. Police officials are expected to provide an update on the investigation and say the NYPD Crime Stoppers reward has been raised to $10,000. The Itzkowitz family will match that amount, bringing the total reward to $20,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Itzkowitz was a longtime Queens resident, a former Hatzalah volunteer, a respected baker and kosher supervisor. He was shot dead on May 18 while on his lunch break near the shoreline of Kissena Lake in Kissena Park in Queens. NYPD officers found his body later that afternoon.
More than a month after the killing, no arrests have been made. Investigators believe more than 200 people were in the park when the shooting happened, and they are continuing to urge anyone who saw suspicious activity or has any information to come forward.
The event is scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the entrance to Kissena Park in Queens. Community members are invited to attend, and elected officials from Queens are expected to join the family.
