National Security Committee chair MK Tzvika Fogelfiled a police complaint on Tuesday evening against Ra’am leader MK Mansour Abbas, suspecting him of meeting a foreign agent. The complaint followed footage aired by Channel 14 showing Abbas standing alongside senior Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad figures at a conference in Turkey in 2018.
According to the report, the footage was uncovered by Channel 14 Arab affairs correspondent Omri Chaim. It shows Abbas at a two-day conference in Turkey that, the channel said, was not about a religious peace initiative or internal Palestinian reconciliation, but about a coordinated Palestinian campaign against the Trump administration’s “Deal of the Century.”
The broadcast said Abbas had for years avoided admitting meetings with senior terror figures, including Hamas officials, and had recently declined to confirm a series of such encounters. The newly revealed images, however, were presented as proof that he attended the 2018 event with top figures from Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Among those seen at the conference were Hamas political bureau member Husam Badran, who previously headed the group’s military wing in Judea and Samaria, Hamas political bureau member Mousa Abu Marzouk, and Muhammad al-Hindi, now deputy leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The report also said Abbas and Badran were photographed in a smaller forum, seated face to face while the conference’s closing statement was read, which it said further contradicted Abbas’s denials.
