The Modzitz rebbe spent Shabbat with the full Hasidic community in Mitzpe Yericho for a festive “Shabbat unity” gathering titled “Lehinchilim.” The event was held to mark the 20th memorial anniversary, or yahrzeit, of the Modzitz rebbe known as the author of “Nahlat Dan.”
Hasidim said the last time such a Shabbat took place was in Netanya, 13 years ago. Since then, there had been no centralized unity Shabbat in the Land of Israel for the broader community, including boys and children over age 9, only selective trips abroad or pilgrimages to the graves of the dynasty’s ancestors overseas.
One organizer said the gathering was made possible now both because of the round yahrzeit of the “Nahlat Dan” and because of the strong longing among Hasidim for a unity Shabbat. He said it is “already a historic event,” one that does not happen every year and occurs “hardly once a decade.”
