Bnei Herzliya announced on Tuesday that head coach Yehu Orland will remain with the club for another season after the team exercised its option on him. Orland had been linked with Hapoel Tel Aviv, which had shown interest in bringing him in as an assistant coach, but he will not move to the Red team.
The coming campaign will be Orland’s third season in Herzliya. In his second year, he again led the team into the top four before Herzliya was eliminated by Hapoel Holon in the quarterfinals.
Orland said he was “very happy” to continue and thanked Lenny, Tal and Eldad for their trust. He said the club had aimed to improve after a successful first season and had done so by reaching the cup final, playing in the BCL, and winning 18 regular-season games to finish fourth and secure a guaranteed place in next season’s BCL group stage. He added that without the war, which “hurt us very much,” the team likely would have reached at least the playoff semifinals.
Looking ahead, Orland said Herzliya wants to stay near the top of the standings and keep improving across all competitions. Club chairman Eldad Akunis said Orland had delivered “impressive achievements” over the past two years, handled difficult situations well, and naturally deserved to continue. Akunis said the club hopes to keep building on that success next season.
