About 19 hours after a deadly shooting in Montreal, the body of Jewish victim Moshe Michael Mizrahi was transferred from the scene to the city’s forensic institute, as officials and ZAKA worked to complete the steps needed for a Jewish burial. Mizrahi was killed during the gunfight in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood, home to a large Jewish community. A local police officer was also killed, and the shooter died from police fire.
According to AP, Canadian authorities have not yet formally determined who shot the civilian who was killed, and the case is being reviewed by an independent investigative body. Local police said the motive has not been officially established. Rebel News reported that the attacker left behind a 104-page manifesto containing explicit antisemitism, anti-Zionist rhetoric, communist ideas and material associated with the incel movement.
The document repeatedly attacks Jews and Zionists, accuses them of wielding deep influence over power centers in the West, and also rails against capitalism and Western society. It frames male loneliness and the breakdown of social structures as part of a broader extremist worldview. Media in Canada and Europe have so far focused mainly on the incel-related component, while Le Monde said radicalization experts described the manifesto as a blend of extreme misogyny, anti-capitalist criticism and glorification of violence.
ZAKA’s international unit is in contact with local authorities and Mizrahi’s family and is trying to speed up the process so he can be brought to burial as soon as possible. Once permission is granted, ZAKA volunteers plan to enter the scene, collect the remains, and ensure they are buried with dignity. ZAKA commander Yossi Landau said the organization had spent hours working with local officials before the body was moved to the Montreal forensic institute.
