Police from the Rosh HaAyin station arrested several minors overnight Tuesday on suspicion of violently attacking another minor near the Big shopping mall in Petah Tikva. According to the investigation, the victim was punched and kicked, sustained light injuries, and was taken to Beilinson Hospital for treatment.
Police said they launched a rapid investigation after the report, collecting evidence and findings from the scene. Within a short time, several suspected participants, all minors, were located and detained on suspicion of involvement in the assault.
Investigators believe there may be additional people involved who have not yet been arrested. The probe is continuing to identify them and determine each suspect’s role in the attack. Based on the needs of the investigation and its findings, the suspects are expected to be brought later Tuesday before the Petah Tikva Magistrate’s Court, where police will seek to extend their detention.
Police said they view all violence, especially violence among teenagers, very seriously and will act decisively to bring those involved to justice and protect public safety. Sources familiar with the case said there was a prior acquaintance between the victim and the suspects, and police are still examining the background to the incident.
