On the eve of his wedding, a young groom is preparing to go under the chuppah today while carrying a heavy financial and emotional burden. The article describes him as an “orphan while his father is alive,” meaning his father provides no practical, financial, or emotional support.
As the wedding preparations reach their peak, the groom is facing the costs of setting up a home entirely alone, with no help for even the most basic expenses. Because time is running out, the matter reached Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Sofer, the head of Yeshivat Kaf HaChaim, who made an unusual personal appeal to the public.
“In all humility, I ask to come and help a groom who is an orphan while his father is alive, and he has no help,” Rabbi Sofer said. He added a rare blessing for donors, saying that anyone who joins this great mitzvah will “merit all good things,” and that “the Holy One, blessed be He, will bless him with everything, for his service of God.” He closed with, “You shall be blessed for the mitzvot, and may it be so, amen.”
The organizers say the situation is urgent and that a donation of 280 shekels is enough right now to relieve the groom’s burden at this critical moment and help him enter his marriage with dignity. They say the hours before the wedding are decisive.
