Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Lior Avidraham and Brig. Gen. Alona Shushan, head of police human resources, were summoned on Tuesday for a third round of questioning in an investigation tied to the suspected conduct of Israel Prison Service commissioner Kobi Yaakobi. Investigators expect a confrontation between the two. The case concerns allegations around associates of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
According to the report, Avidraham filed a complaint against Shushan for witness harassment, saying she had been sent by Yaakobi to record him. Shushan was previously questioned under caution on suspicion of witness harassment and destruction of evidence. A complaint was also filed against Avidraham himself, this time alleging sexual harassment.
Both officials are being questioned at the offices of the Israel Competition Authority, which is handling the probe because of a possible conflict of interest stemming from the allegations involving Yaakobi. The IPS commissioner was also summoned for another interrogation last week.
Sources close to the investigation told N12 three weeks ago that Avidraham is a key figure in the Yaakobi case. They said he first filed a complaint against a senior female officer for witness harassment, prompting her questioning under caution, and that she has now filed a sexual harassment complaint against him.
