Israeli security officials are tracking Houthi aircraft landings in Jordan, according to a report on Galei Tzahal. The Houthi airline Yemenia Airways, which operates very few flights, primarily uses Jordan as its destination, especially Queen Alia International Airport in Amman.
Jordan is the only country in the region where the Houthis are allowed to land on a direct flight from Sanaa. A second Jordanian airport, King Hussein Airport near Aqaba, is also close to Eilat and Ramon Airport in the Negev, and the Houthis are permitted to land there as well.
The Israeli security establishment is monitoring these flights because of the Houthis' access to the Eilat area and the Israel-Jordan border, and their ability to get very close to Israel. That proximity is described as one of the main reasons for security concerns and for the Shin Bet chief's warning about the possibility of a terror attack in Eilat.
At the same time, the report stressed, and the Shin Bet clarified, that there is currently no concrete intelligence about such a threat. The assessment is based on mapping and analyzing potential threats, as seen by senior figures in the Israeli security system.
