Guy Pines, who usually keeps his opinions to himself when interviewing the latest eliminated contestants on Dancing with the Stars, broke from that routine during Shahar Hayon’s exit interview. Speaking on Evening Good with Guy Pines, he said he was upset by the judges’ scoring and felt Hayon and her partner, Matan Konvesky, were not given the marks they deserved.
Hayon and Konvesky’s run ended earlier than expected after Hayon was forced to withdraw from the competition בגלל injury. The pair had danced before the judges only once, and that first routine drew criticism and a score of 26 points.
In the interview, Pines said, “I saw the dance on television, and it’s not often that I get angry at the judges. I felt that you were not given what you deserved for the dance, it was really good. I know it’s surprising that I’m saying this, but I am describing my experience as a viewer and not as a dance expert. You were really good, I was disappointed for you about the score.”
Hayon said the situation was difficult but said they were staying positive. “It is a little challenging for us, but we are keeping our heads up and believing completely that it is for the best. We are very competitive, it is hard for us to leave a competition that has only just started,” she said. Hayon’s injury happened during rehearsals, when she tore a muscle just two days before her second planned appearance. Konvesky noted he has faced similar bad luck before, after his previous partners, Omer Nudelman and Bar Zomer, also had to withdraw because of injuries. “I feel bad luck on the floor,” he said, but Hayon defended him, saying, “I do not allow you to say that. He is not bad luck, he is a world champion.”
