RB Leipzig announced on Monday that Martín Demichelis has been hired as the club’s new head coach, less than a month after he extended his contract with Mallorca. The Argentine is moving to Germany after a very short spell in Spain.
Leipzig issued an official statement on the appointment, while Demichelis also posted a farewell message on his own social media accounts. In that message, he said goodbye to Mallorca supporters and made clear that the club would be compensated for his departure, even though he had been expected to stay for about two more years.
This is the fifth stop in Demichelis’ coaching career. He began with Bayern Munich’s reserve team, then spent two years at River Plate. He later coached Mexican side Monterrey before joining Mallorca in February.
