A right-wing activist and settler held under administrative house arrest asked to leave so he could attend his sister’s bat mitzvah, but the request was rejected on grounds of concern for regional security. The petition was submitted through attorney Adi Kedar of the Honenu legal organization.
According to the information provided, the administrative order requires the settler to remain under house arrest at his grandparents’ home in Hebron. The claim is that the decision was made without first checking with the grandparents, elderly citizens who need regular medical treatment, and without obtaining their consent to host him for six months.
Kedar sharply criticized the rejection, saying, “There is no logic or justification for rejecting this elementary and simple outing. What danger is posed by a young man who will celebrate his sister’s bat mitzvah with her? This is senseless abuse, without any basis or evidence, repeated again and again against the settler public.” He added, “It is time to stop the persecution of settlers by the Shin Bet, which must wake up and distinguish between enemy and friend.”
