A 79-year-old woman was violently robbed after leaving a shopping trip, and security footage showed a teenager approaching from behind, yanking her bag away, knocking her to the ground when she resisted, and fleeing. The fall left her bruised all over her body.
Her granddaughter, Tali Lulkis, tracked down the suspects herself and helped lead to the arrest of one of them. In an interview on the morning program "The World This Morning," she said the attack appeared planned: "They followed her, sat and waited for her outside." She said she went into the field, collected surveillance footage on her own, and posted the video to warn the public and help identify the attacker.
Lulkis said public tips showed the suspect was a minor, which let her reach his parents. "His mother took responsibility and said she would come to the police," she said. Although she went to a police station on Saturday with the information she had gathered, she said she was not given proper help and was sent home.
"Today it is my grandmother, tomorrow it is someone else," Lulkis said, adding that anyone could end up in her position and that there needs to be a response to such incidents. Israel Police said that when the report came in, they opened an investigation, collected evidence, and retrieved surveillance videos for review. They said the case is being handled through professional channels rather than the media. During the weekend, police arrested a minor suspected of involvement, and his detention was extended until Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
