Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday responded to the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, saying he was grateful for Starmer's backing of Ukraine during the war against Russia. Zelensky described Starmer as one of Ukraine's strongest supporters in Europe during his two years in office.
In a post, Zelensky thanked Starmer for the cooperation between the two governments and said his decisions had helped make Europe and Ukraine stronger. He added that Britain has been, and will remain, one of the world's leading countries, and said Ukraine values Britain and their meetings and conversations.
Zelensky also praised Starmer for staying in touch and making an effort to do what was needed and genuinely helpful. He wished Britain and the British people success in reaching their national goals, saying Ukraine has confidence in them. He ended the message with a photo of the two embracing and wrote, "Keir, you will always be a welcome guest in Ukraine."
