Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban may no longer be married, but their public tone still appears warm and supportive. Over the weekend, Urban marked Kidman’s 59th birthday with an Instagram Story that used her full name, "Nicole Mary!!!!!!!!!!!!", on a blue and purple background, in a notably effusive birthday message.
Kidman did not respond publicly to that post, but on Sunday, June 21, she returned the gesture for Father’s Day. She shared two black-and-white throwback images on Instagram Stories, one showing Urban carrying their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, when they were small, and another showing her late father, Dr. Anthony Kidman, holding her as a child. She wrote, "Happy Father’s Day to all the dads." Anthony Kidman, a psychologist and biochemist, died in 2014 at age 75. Kidman has often spoken about the close bond she had with both him and her mother, Janelle Kidman, who died in September 2024 at 84.
The exchanges came on the first Father’s Day since Kidman and Urban finalized their divorce in January, after 19 years of marriage. They married in 2006, publicly announced their separation in September 2025, and completed the divorce a few months later. As part of the settlement, both waived child support and spousal support. The girls will live with Kidman for 306 days a year, while Urban will have them every other weekend.
The public gestures also follow reports of family tension after the split. In April, Sunday Rose drew attention when she unfollowed her father on Instagram, then followed him again hours later. Kidman is also mother to Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise. In an October 2025 Harper’s Bazaar interview, she said motherhood gives her stability and purpose, adding that her children give her "a purpose to be their protector and their guide" and that they always have "a safe place to grow up."
