A special prayer gathering will be held on Wednesday at the grave of the author of the Pele Yoetz in Silistra, Bulgaria, where Rabbi Shimon Galai will pray on behalf of donors to Kupa Ha'Ir. The event follows a personal instruction reportedly given to Galai by Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, who asked him to hold prayer gatherings and special spiritual acts for the benefit of the charity's donors.
The article says Kupa Ha'Ir was long supported and guided by Kanievsky, and that the fund helps sustain poor families of Torah scholars, large families, and other needy people in the Jewish community. At the site, Galai is expected to pray intensely, "to sweeten judgments from their source" and seek mercy for all who need salvation.
The prayers will be said after immersion in a mikveh built nearby, in line with a statement attributed to the Pele Yoetz in the introduction to his book: "Anyone who comes to my grave in purity after immersion in a mikveh, and prays with a broken heart, I guarantee that his prayer will be accepted." Galai plans to dedicate the prayers specifically to Kupa Ha'Ir donors.
After the service, Galai will read out the names of all registered donors one by one. He will also sign a "Pele Yoetz deed" for donors who commit to a monthly contribution for a period of time. The deed quotes the Pele Yoetz and says the prayer was offered at the grave in Silistra after immersion, asking for livelihood, peace of mind, children’s success, happiness, wealth, honor, long life, expanded understanding, and great success in all their work.
