Hapoel Petah Tikva announced on Monday that it has signed Stav Israeli, the 28-year-old captain of Bnei Yehuda, by activating the free-release clause in his contract for the Premier League. The move makes Israeli the latest addition to the newly promoted side as it prepares for the coming season.
Israeli made 100 appearances for Bnei Yehuda in the orange shirt before the transfer. He signed a one-year contract with an option for a further season at Hapoel Petah Tikva.
Before his spell at Bnei Yehuda, Israeli played for Sekzia Nes Tziona, where he also featured in the Premier League. After signing, he said: “It is a great honor for me to sign with a huge club like Hapoel Petah Tikva.”
He added that he wanted to thank “Omer, Nir and the professional staff” for their trust, and said he was already looking forward to the first match in front of the team’s supporters. “I hope we have a successful and achievement-filled year,” he said.
