A ball from one of the defining moments of the 2026 NBA playoffs is set to hit the auction block, and it could fetch as much as $3 million. Sotheby’s said the ball from Game 4 of the Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs will be offered for sale starting June 30.
The ball was used on the decisive play, when OG Anunoby scored a tip-in with 1.2 seconds left to give New York a 107-106 win. The basket capped the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history, after the Knicks erased a 29-point deficit to take a 3-1 series lead. The moment instantly became one of the most memorable in franchise history.
Anunoby had also made a crucial defensive play moments earlier, blocking a De'Aaron Fox attempt before sprinting back to the other end to finish off a missed shot by Jalen Brunson over Victor Wembanyama. After the game, Anunoby said, “It feels great. Everyone was excited and so was I,” adding, “We are enjoying the moment, but we are already thinking about the next game.”
In hindsight, that basket became the turning point in New York’s run to its first championship since 1973. The Knicks later sealed the title with a Game 5 win in San Antonio, ending a 53-year drought. Sotheby’s said demand should be strong, both because of the play itself and because it represents one of the biggest sports stories of the year. Other championship memorabilia, including Finals jerseys and the series nets, will also be sold.
