Bleacher Report ranks the NBA Finals' most iconic moments, with a new Knicks shot near the top
Bleacher Report has published a ranking of the 10 greatest moments in NBA Finals history after Game 4 of this year’s Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. Played at Madison Square Garden, the game ended with the Knicks’ 1.2-second winning basket by OG Anunoby, a shot that completed a 29-point comeback, the largest in Finals history, and gave New York a 3-1 series lead and a chance at its first title since 1973.
Anunoby’s shot was placed fourth on the list. The site said it did not rank it so high just because it is recent, explaining that the closing seconds of the game felt like one of those moments fans will remember for years and rewatch repeatedly.
Ahead of it were three of the Finals’ most famous clutch plays: LeBron James’ block in Game 7 of the 2016 Finals, Kyrie Irving’s late three-pointer in that same game, and Ray Allen’s corner three in Game 6 of the 2013 Finals, which forced overtime and kept Miami alive before the Heat won the championship in Game 7.
Bleacher Report’s full top 10 also included Giannis Antetokounmpo’s alley-oop finish in Game 5 of the 2021 Finals, Allen Iverson’s step-over shot against Tyronn Lue in Game 1 of the 2001 Finals, Ron Artest’s deciding three in Game 7 of the 2010 Finals, Robert Horry’s game-winner in Game 5 of the 2005 Finals, Dirk Nowitzki’s winning layup in Game 2 of the 2011 Finals, and two nearly identical Kevin Durant daggers in Game 3 of the 2017 and 2018 Finals.
The outlet also said two other moments narrowly missed the list, Tyrese Haliburton’s Game 1 winner in last year’s 2025 Finals and Kobe Bryant’s closing basket in Game 4 of the 2000 Finals.
