A 55-year-old truck driver from Haifa was indicted on Sunday for causing the death of 81-year-old gas station worker Gabi Kamin earlier this month. The charge is reckless manslaughter, along with additional offenses. Kamin lived in the Nir Banim area.
Video from the gas station shows the two men arguing at the convenience store cashier before the collision. The driver is seen raising a fist toward Kamin and then throwing items, including packages of chewing gum, at him. After that, Kamin is seen being run over at the station.
According to the investigation, the dispute began inside the convenience store and continued outside. At one point, the truck driver got back into his vehicle and started moving away while Kamin stood near the truck and spoke with him. During the drive, the driver hit Kamin, leaving him critically wounded.
Paramedics who were called to the scene were forced to pronounce Kamin dead there. Police from the Kiryat Malachi station opened an investigation, and after it was completed the State Attorney’s Office filed the indictment. The case centers on the confrontation immediately before the fatal strike.
