Yinon Magal, the host of "The Patriots," sharply criticized coalition lawmakers on Monday for repeatedly missing hearings on the broadcasting bill. He said the absences could waste hundreds of hours of committee work and derail the legislation, which he warned is important for the future of right-wing media.
Writing on X, Magal said lawmakers' difficulty attending meetings, whether because of other commitments or discomfort, was producing a dangerous outcome. He argued that the communications law may never reach a Knesset plenum vote, leaving right-wing media exposed to censorship and even a possible "blackout" on screen.
Magal also said that when the right later complains that "The Patriots" or other shows are taken off air as "incitement," people should remember that the coalition left Minister Miri Regev alone in committee without a majority. He said Tuesday's hearing was canceled because MKs Michel Buskila, Tzaga Malko, and Oshra Shkalim did not show up, while the opposition attends every session in full.
He ended by writing, "This is why you vote for the right and get the left. Laziness and irresponsibility." He framed the issue as a wider failure of elected officials and said it could have lasting consequences for Israeli media.
