Israel’s credit-card market is being reshaped by the transfer of FLY CARD from Cal to Isracard after the partnership with Cal ended. The change affects about 500,000 FLY CARD holders, as El Al’s Frequent Flyer Club now has more than 3.6 million members.
According to the companies, the card’s activity has been substantial. In the past year, more than 1 million plane tickets were bought using points earned through the card, either partly or fully, and more than 1 billion points were redeemed for tickets, seat upgrades, extra baggage and other travel benefits. The companies say this shows the card is being used actively, not just kept in wallets.
The newly issued card includes a launch promotion for customers who book hotels through El Al Travel, offering 10,000 Frequent Flyer Club points. The updated product comes in several versions: the basic card earns one Frequent Flyer point for every 5 shekels spent; PREMIUM SELECT improves that to one point for every 4.5 shekels and also earns “diamonds” that can improve a member’s status, with a 25% discount on the annual card fee for new customers who join by 31 October 2026; PREMIUM earns one point for every 4 shekels, and one point per 3 shekels on foreign-currency purchases; and AMEX PREMIUM adds a 50% discount on currency-conversion fees.
El Al Frequent Flyer Club CEO Moshe Murgenshtern said, “The card upgrades not only the flight experience, but the entire trip from the moment the vacation is booked until it ends, and only an airline can offer that.” He added that cardholders receive club membership, lounge access at airports worldwide, priority upgrades, preferred seats and discounted extra baggage. Points can be redeemed on El Al and partner airlines Delta, KLM and Air France. Isracard CEO Itamar Furman said the tie-up is “natural and winning,” and said FLY CARD holders will be able to reach a free flight faster. Issuance and credit limits remain subject to Isracard and other financing entities’ discretion, and unpaid balances may lead to default interest and enforcement proceedings.
