Amir Banai and his professional partner Romi Nof remain one of the strongest couples on Israel’s “Dancing with the Stars,” airing Monday after the news on Keshet 12. But in a fast salsa routine, Banai suddenly slipped on the dance floor and fell, only to get back up immediately and keep dancing as if nothing had happened.
The judges praised the way he handled the mishap. Anna Aronov said, “You got out of the slip as if it was nothing for you, it didn’t confuse you for a second. You present everything in a magical way.” David Dvir added, “You were born the mature and responsible one, and you are outstanding. Romi brings out something unbelievable in you.” Banai’s partner, Noa Reinhold, watching from the audience, said, “The most moving thing was how you got up. What a king you are, and handsome.”
The slip came after a slow foxtrot that had impressed the judges. Despite the stumble, Banai and Nof received 35 points and reclaimed first place. Banai said emotionally that he came “to learn” and is “learning about myself every day,” adding that he is enjoying the experience more than he has ever enjoyed anything and calling the dance “all my dreams,” while thanking Nof.
His mother, Orna Banai, watching from the sidelines, also praised him. She said, “He came out of me by Caesarean and he is a Caesar. Since he has been on the show I feel like I married off a son, just without the checks. Amir gets everything he wants in life, and he will make it to the final too.”
