U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is visiting the headquarters of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in Florida after a visit to bases in Guantanamo, Cuba, issued threats this evening toward Iran: "We are going to strike hard in Iran tonight. Iran is going to take bombing on key facilities." However, Hegseth stressed that the bombings were not intended to reopen the war, but rather to set the terms for a deal. In Israel, preparations have been underway since the morning for an American strike in Iran, in order to force the Iranian regime to sign a more favorable agreement. Earlier this evening, Trump announced that the U.S. intends to strike Iran again tonight in response to the downing of the American helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz. The refueling planes that took part in yesterday's strike took off from Ben Gurion Airport, and as a result Israel is maintaining peak alert in its defense systems because of Trump's statements. Now, after Trump's threats and Hegseth's addition, it appears that this evening is going to be an interesting one in the Persian Gulf.
