ASIA, a new entertainment and dining complex, has opened for trial operations on a rooftop in central Eilat, overlooking the Red Sea, the Edom Mountains and the city’s hotel strip. The project cost about 10 million shekels and is described as a new kind of hospitality venue for the city, combining a chef restaurant, bars, lounges and a plunge pool.
The complex sits in the Seven Stars complex, owned by Hasha'ar Hayishuv of the Nimrodi Group, and was developed by Eilat entrepreneur Elad Gozlan, a familiar figure in the city’s nightlife, hotel and restaurant scene. Gozlan said the concept was inspired by rooftop venues in Miami and Dubai, but was meant to be adapted to local tastes and surroundings.
Designed by interior designers Adi Yamin and Shahar Weiss of Studio Yamin Weiss, ASIA covers about 1,000 square meters and is divided into three separate areas: an Asian restaurant and central indoor bar, a northern pool and outdoor bar area, and a southern outdoor lounge terrace. The designers said the challenge was to create distinct spaces that still function as one connected experience, linked by a broad horizontal axis.
The venue’s design leans heavily on the Eilat landscape, with desert-toned travertine floors, natural plaster walls, wood finishes and lighting that changes from morning coffee hours to late-night parties. The restaurant includes an open kitchen, a DJ stage, and flexible glass partitions, while the terraces are styled differently, the south side calmer and the north side more beach-club-like and sensual. Nearly every furnishing and textile was custom-made, and 25 chair types were used after extensive testing for sun, heat and fire resistance. The article says ASIA is meant to work as more than a restaurant or rooftop, but as a full environment of shifting moods and experiences.
