An Israeli official said Israel has agreed to a ceasefire in its fighting with Hezbollah, under terms that would leave IDF forces in southern Lebanon and allow them to act against what the official called “emerging threats.”
The official said the arrangement is conditional on Hezbollah’s conduct. “If Hezbollah does not attack, we will not attack them. If they attack us, we will respond,” the official said.
The statement confirms that Israel has accepted a pause in hostilities, while making clear that its forces would remain deployed in southern Lebanon and retain the ability to strike if it sees a threat. The official did not provide additional details on the timing or enforcement of the ceasefire.
