Yael Dabi Oved crocheted her own wedding dress with a hook over seven months, and also made the crocheted bridal bouquet. She documented the entire project in a series of videos.
In an interview on the morning show "HaOlam HaBoker," she said she learned to crochet at 20, noting that her mother also crocheted. She described the series as a seven-month effort that produced 10 episodes before the wedding, titled "Come Crochet My Wedding Dress With Me."
The ambitious project traveled with her everywhere, because of her work as a flight attendant. She said the unfinished dress flew with her around the world and became part of her daily routine. "I slept with it, I woke up with it. Every time I knew it was with me," she said, adding, "It was at a level of closeness really like my phone."
Her husband, Ariel, was also fully involved. Unlike the tradition that bars the groom from seeing the dress before the wedding, he not only saw it taking shape but helped make it: "Not only did I see it, I helped too," he said.
