A French court has approved rape charges going to trial against Paris Saint-Germain defender and Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi, nearly two years after a complaint was filed against him in France. The decision was issued on Friday, about four months after police finished their investigation into the case.
Hakimi, 27, has denied the allegations throughout. He is currently with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup and leads the national team as captain. After the ruling, he repeated that position on social media and said he trusts the French legal system.
In a post he wrote in French, Hakimi said that “an accusation of rape is enough to justify a trial,” while insisting that he contests the claim and that “everything shows that it is false.” He added that the process is unjust “for the innocent as well as for genuine victims” and said he was waiting calmly for the trial, where the truth would come out.
According to the case details, the alleged incident took place in February 2023 at Hakimi’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The complainant, a 24-year-old woman, says he carried out sexual acts without her consent. Hakimi, who is also preparing with Morocco for its second World Cup match against Scotland, has continued to deny the accusations since they became public.
