A French court said on Friday that Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, 27, will stand trial on rape charges. Hakimi has denied the allegations throughout the case, saying he is “looking forward” to the trial, and he posted on X that he trusts the French justice system.
In his post, dated February 24, 2026, Hakimi wrote in French that an accusation of rape is not enough to justify a trial when he disputes it and says the evidence shows it is false. He said that is unfair both to innocent people and to genuine victims, and added that he is waiting calmly for the proceedings so “the truth can come to light.”
The alleged incident took place on February 25, 2023, after Hakimi invited a 24-year-old woman to his home in Boulogne-Billancourt following Instagram messages between them. According to her police statement, he kissed her against her will, touched her without consent, and then forced himself on her sexually until she managed to push him away and leave the apartment upset.
She later texted a friend to pick her up and then went to a police station, but did not file a formal complaint at that stage. Hakimi, who is captain of Morocco and is currently at the World Cup in North America, has consistently rejected the accusations since they became public. Morocco is preparing for its second World Cup match against Scotland.
